Seoul, South Korea — South Korean actor Song Jae Rim, known for his roles in popular K-dramas, has passed away at the age of 39. According to reports, the actor was found dead on November 12 in his apartment located in Seoul’s Seongdong District. The exact cause of death is currently unknown, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding his passing. A two-page letter was reportedly discovered at the scene.
Song Jae Rim rose to fame through his role as a loyal bodyguard in the 2012 hit drama “The Moon Embracing the Sun,” where he starred alongside actor Kim Soo-hyun. He made his acting debut in the 2009 film Actresses, later gaining recognition for his performances in other well-known shows. Over the years, he appeared in a range of dramas, including Two Weeks (2013), where he played a cold-blooded assassin, Unkind Ladies (2015), Secret Mother (2018), I Wanna Hear Your Song (2019), and Café Minamdang (2022). His most recent projects include My Military Valentine (2024) and Queen Woo.
Song Jae Rim was also known for his memorable appearance in We Got Married Season 4, where he was paired with actress Kim So-eun, which further endeared him to fans. He had two upcoming projects, I’ll Become Rich and Death Business, which were set to showcase his talent once again.
A funeral service will be held at the Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital Funeral Hall on November 14, with his younger sister serving as the chief mourner. Fans and colleagues have expressed deep sorrow at the news of his passing.
